The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Wednesday evening landed in Kigali, Rwanda, for the 26th conference of Commonwealth and Heads of Government.

Buhari was received by the Rwandan Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Emmanuel Ugirashebuja, as well as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Rwanda, Aishatu Musa, for the conference which runs from June 22 to 26.

Buhari was accompanied by some government officials including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Minister of State Trade and Investment, Mariam Katagum; and Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Farouq.

Also in attendance include United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed.

The theme for this year’s conference, ‘Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming’ is expected to reaffirm the commitment of world leaders to upholding the Commonwealth Charter, which focuses on democracy, human rights, the rule of law, as well as economic opportunities and sustainable development.
