The Peoples Democratic Party has established a caretaker committee to oversee the party’s operations in Ekiti State for a period of up to 90 days.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, announced this in a statement issued on Friday.
This move follows the expiration of the tenure of the State Executive Committee in the state.
Dare Adeleke has been appointed as the chairman of the committee, while Olatunji Ayofe will serve as the secretary, according to NaijaNews.
The 20-member committee includes various party stakeholders and leaders, tasked with managing the party’s affairs in Ekiti State until a new Executive Committee is elected.
The PDP National Working Committee has urged party leaders, stakeholders, and members in Ekiti State to unite and work together for the progress of the party during this transition period.
The caretaker committee’s appointment is in line with the PDP’s constitution, which provides for such a committee to be established in the event of the expiration of the tenure of the State Executive Committee.
“Following the expiration of the tenure of the State Executive Committee in Ekiti State, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on behalf of the National Executive Committee, hereby approves the composition of the Ekiti State Caretaker Committee to manage the affairs of the Ekiti State Chapter as stipulated in Section 21(2) (a-b) of our Party’s Constitution, for a period not exceeding 90 days (three months), or until a new Executive Committee is elected.”
The statement added: “The NWC charges all leaders, critical stakeholders, and dedicated members of our party in Ekiti State to remain united and continue to work together for the progress of the party.”
