The former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo said that God is not responsible for the frustration of Nigerians adding that bad governance is responsible for poverty berating the nation.
Obasanjo made this remark while replying to veteran entertainer Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, aka Charley Boy when he visited his residence on Friday.
Charley boy during his courtesy visit to the former head state’s residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State identified himself as the ‘President of frustrated Nigerians’.
Reacting to the identification, Obasanjo said, “You are president of frustrated Nigerian youths, I am their father.”
When asked to advise “frustrated Nigerians,” Obasanjo said, “That we are frustrated and poor is not the fault of God, it is the choice of our leaders. And if you have to change that, change our situation, you have to change leadership. I always say,
“Nigeria is my own baby, the one I want to put a beautiful bead on its waist, not an individual.
“In the north, they say, ‘La mu la muni’. ‘Tiwa n tiwa’, in south-east, it’s ‘Nka bu ka nyi.’ Now, that is not the issue, the issue is Nigeria.”
