The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, on Wednesday, disclosed that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), led regime has recovered $1 billion in looted funds.
He said the regime took over the reign of power in 2015, the Buhari-led government has been working on blocking all loopholes and recovering funds looted under previous administrations.
Malami revealed this to State House Correspondents shortly after this week’s Federal Executive Council meeting.
According to Malami, the FG has deployed the recovers to various sectors of the economy, especially on poverty alleviation.
He also announced that the Council approved the new Anti-corruption Strategy Document to reinforce anti-graft operations nationwide.
The justice minister also noted that the FG is concerned over budget padding, a practice he described as worrisome.
He added that the government would explore every necessary measure to address it.
