Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has officially joined the 2023 presidential election race on Wednesday, May 5, 2022.
Fayemi who held a declaration ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Abuja will be contesting on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The Ekiti governor who will be competing against a ‘star-studded’ APC aspirants including Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and Transportation Minister – Rotimi Amaechi, vowed to ensure youth empowerment if he succeeds the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) next year.
He said, “After a careful consideration of where we are as a nation, I believe that my entry into the race will offer Nigerians the opportunity to examine competing visions for national rebirth.
“I am a full-blooded child of Nigeria…I can boldly and confidently say, let us as one people dig deep into our history & hearts to revive hope and do the work of faith that will get us to the greater good.”
Fayemi will also be going head to head in the primaries against others like Senator Rochas Okorocha, ex-Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, and the Minister of Labour Chris Ngige.
Others include Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, amongst others.
