The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has condemned the recent killings in Anambra State.
Recall that the US embassy staff were attacked at Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra while on a humanitarian aid mission to the state on Tuesday.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, titled, ‘President Buhari saddened by killing of US Embassy Staff, Policemen and others in Plateau and Benue States,’ Buhari expressed sadness, while also condoling with the families of those killed in the incident.
“I was very sad hearing about the killing of the embassy staff and our policemen accompanying them.
“In this difficult time for the families of those killed, the American Embassy and the Nigeria Police Force, I extend the nation’s condolences over the very sad incident.”
In addition, Adesina stated that the President was also informed about the tragic deaths of several people in the Bwoi District of the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, as well as those of several villagers in the Adaka Village of the Makurdi Local Government and the Ijaha Community of the Apa Local Government Area of Benue State.
The deaths occurred less than a month after an attack on the Umogidi hamlet of Entekpa-Adoka in Benue’s Otukpo Local Government Area killed over 46 people.
Buhari had urged the secret services, police, and military commanders at the time to increase monitoring on all fronts and quickly evaluate security management in the impacted areas.
“We share the grief of the American Embassy, the Nigeria Police Force and our communities in Plateau and Benue and remain committed to fishing out the perpetrators of the attacks and bringing them to justice.
“May God give their families the strength to bear the unfortunate losses,” said Buhari
