Workers block NASS gate, protest wage payment, others

Staff of the National Assembly and National Assembly Service Commission under the aegis of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria have blocked the main entrance into the National Assembly Complex.

The Nation reported that the workers had warned on Friday that they would commence an indefinite strike on Monday as they accused the management of the National Assembly of reneging on a Memorandum of Understanding to fully implement the revised condition of service and the training and re-Training of staff.

They are also asking for the payment of minimum wage arrears, leave grants and other allowances.

The workers blocked the gate with their coastal bus and human shield.

They vowed that the strike would be total and indefinite.

They have further directed all their members to stay at home from Tuesday in furtherance of the indefinite strike.
