The Senate Chief Whip, Ali Ndume, has cleared the air on the choice of foreign-made cars for the lawmakers.
Ndume, while featuring on Arise TV on Friday, revealed that most cars thought to be made in Nigeria are only assembled in the country.
The lawmaker who represents Borno South in the Senate explained that Nigerian car manufacturers only buy the parts abroad and then assemble them in the country.
He maintained that he would prefer made-in-Nigeria vehicles for the nation’s lawmakers.
He said, “The reason why we did not choose Nigerian-made cars is because they don’t manufacture their vehicles, but they assemble them.
“I prefer Nigerian-made products, but the Nigerian car companies are only buying the vehicle parts and assembling them here.”
