Accreditation and voting have commenced in the Surulere area of Lagos, on the ongoing bye-election for Surulere Federal Constituency 1.
It was gathered that there was an early arrival of election officials and commencement of voting in some Polling Units in the constituent.
However, despite the calm atmosphere as officials have taken charge of the exercise, few voters were said to have turned out for the voting process.
Meanwhile, policemen and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have also taken a position to ensure a peaceful electoral process around the polling units.
The constituency seat became vacant, following the resignation of the former lawmaker representing it, Femi Gbajabiamila, who after winning his election to return to the green chamber, was appointed by President Bola Tinubu as his Chief of Staff.
The Federal Constituency according to INEC, consists of six Electoral wards with 258 polling units.
