Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has reiterated that the All Progressives Congress is united, stronger, and fully supportive of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Uzodimma made the statement while addressing newsmen following the party’s caucus meeting, which was presided over by President Tinubu at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja on Tuesday.
The governor dismissed claims that the APC operates as a one-man show, emphasizing that the party’s representation spans across all six geopolitical zones of the country. He noted the presence of governors from various states at the meeting as evidence of the party’s inclusive nature.
He further explained that the APC’s structure, as defined by its constitution, includes a variety of leadership positions and a hierarchical framework designed to ensure broad participation in the party’s decision-making processes.
“Our party is united, stronger, focused, and supportive of the government. We need to celebrate our own. The government is heavily supported by the APC, and from time to time, we must show that we are behind the government,” Uzodimma said.
On the subject of internal party democracy, the governor stressed that the APC, being a large political party, has well-established executive structures at all levels. “We have our internal mechanism for selection. Why are we winning all these elections? It’s because we have demonstrated high capacity and respect for democracy,” he added.
Uzodimma ma also credited the leadership of President Tinubu for improving the country’s revenue generation, which he said has translated into better infrastructure, social change, and economic growth.
According to the governor, the APC is not only the leading political party in Nigeria but is also the envy of other political parties across Africa.
He highlighted the inauguration of the Progressive Institute, the party’s intellectual arm, which is tasked with conducting research, training, and developing the intellectual capacity of party members.
Uzodimma nma also praised President Tinubu’s efforts in addressing the country’s security challenges, noting that the president’s work in managing insecurity was commended during the meeting. “The president has done very well in terms of managing the insecurity in the country, as testified today by one of our members in Zamfara State, where there is relative peace,” he said. “Now, people are going about their businesses. Farmers have gone back to their farms in the southeast.”
The meeting was attended by key party leaders, including Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Governors Umar Bago (Niger), Nasiru Idris (Kebbi), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), and other prominent APC members.
