Minister of Works and former Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating an environment of autonomy and support that has led to significant progress in Nigeria’s infrastructure development.
In an interview on Arise Television, Umahi praised President Tinubu’s hands-off approach, which he believes has empowered the Ministry of Works to implement innovative policies without interference. According to the minister, the president has never reversed any decisions made by the ministry regarding new policies to advance his agenda, providing confidence to drive these initiatives forward.
Umahi also acknowledged Tinubu’s expertise in infrastructure, highlighting the president’s achievements during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State. He described Tinubu as a courageous leader with a deep understanding of the role infrastructure plays in national development, emphasizing that Nigeria is fortunate to have a leader who grasps the importance of infrastructure as a catalyst for growth.
Reflecting on his time as governor of Ebonyi State, Umahi attributed his successes to passion, divine inspiration, and a hands-on approach. He shared that many of the state’s key projects, such as its international airport, malls, and concrete road networks, were conceived by him with guidance from God.
Umahi also urged Nigerians to move beyond associating government projects with corruption, emphasizing that genuine commitment to service can result in tangible outcomes for the country.
“There’s no decision we ever took in the Ministry of Works in terms of new policies to drive his agenda that he ever reversed. It means we have the confidence to drive his agenda.
” He’s a man of courage and has vast knowledge in infrastructural development. We are lucky to follow a leader who understands that infrastructure is a catalyst for national development.
“Most of the projects in Ebonyi State were designed by me, by the inspiration of God,” he said, citing examples like the state’s international airport, malls, and concrete road networks.
