The Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, has denied reports that fighter jets mistakenly bombed communities in Sokoto State while targeting terrorists.
Olusegun issued the denial in a post on his X account late Wednesday night.
He dismissed the claims of a mistaken bombing in Sokoto, describing the reports as fake news and urging the public to disregard them.
He wrote, “Kindly disregard any news about fighter jets mistakenly bombing communities in Sokoto. It’s all fake!”
Earlier reports had claimed that several villagers had been killed and many others injured following an airstrike by a fighter jet that targeted the Lakurawa terrorist group.
The attack was said to have bombed two communities in the Silame Local Government Area, specifically Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa.
Residents reported that the incident occurred around 7 a.m. on Wednesday. Malam Yahya, a resident of Silame, explained that the two villages are located near Surame Forest, a known hideout for the Lakurawa group and other bandits.
