President Bola Tinubu has extended condolences to the government and people of India following the death of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Singh, who served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, passed away on Thursday at the age of 92.
In a statement, President Tinubu reflected on the historic significance of Singh’s official visit to Nigeria in 2007.
The visit was a pivotal moment in the relationship between the two nations, with Singh becoming one of the few global leaders to address a joint session of Nigeria’s National Assembly.
President Tinubu also honored Singh’s contributions to strengthening the bilateral ties between Nigeria and India, noting that Singh’s diplomatic efforts have had a lasting impact on both countries.

The Nigerian leader expressed his gratitude to the people of India for celebrating the life and achievements of the late Prime Minister.
He commended Singh’s leadership in guiding India through economic reforms during globally challenging times and expressed hope that his dedication to service would continue to inspire the people of India.
According to the statement, “President Tinubu pays tribute to Dr Singh’s dedication to strengthening the Nigeria-India relationship, noting that his diplomatic efforts remain a reference point in the history of the bilateral relations between the two nations.
