President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Senator John Azuta-Mbata on his election as the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, a leading Pan-Igbo socio-cultural organisation.
In a statement issued on Friday by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended the smooth leadership transition within Ohanaeze Ndigbo and encouraged the new leadership to build on the achievements of their predecessors.
“The President recognises the critical role of socio-cultural organisations in nation-building; hence, his commitment to promoting dialogue among our ethnic nationalities,” Onanuga stated.
Tinubu acknowledged the significance of organisations like Ohanaeze Ndigbo in fostering national unity and facilitating dialogue across Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups. He described Azuta-Mbata’s new position as an “onerous yet noble and lofty task,” expressing confidence in his ability to lead effectively.
Senator Azuta-Mbata, a former senator who represented Rivers East in the National Assembly from 1999 to 2007, was elected as the 13th President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide during a meeting held in Enugu on Friday.
The President concluded his message by wishing Azuta-Mbata success in his leadership role and expressed optimism about the organisation’s contributions to Nigeria’s socio-political development under his guidance.
