Atsi Kefas, the sister of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, has died following an accidental shooting by a police escort during an attempted bandit attack.
The tragic incident took place last Thursday on Kente Road in the Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
According to reports, Atsi Kefas was traveling with the governor’s mother, Jumai Kefas, when gunmen ambushed their vehicle. In an attempt to repel the attackers, a police officer assigned to protect the family mistakenly shot Atsi.
She was immediately rushed to a hospital in Abuja for emergency treatment but succumbed to her injuries days later.
A source close to the family confirmed her passing, stating, “She passed away last night after battling her injuries. The governor and his family have yet to issue a formal statement, but our thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time.”
Another source corroborated the incident, saying, “Yes, the governor’s younger sister, who was shot during the bandit attack while traveling to Abuja, has sadly passed away.”
