Following the resignation of Sri Lanka President, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the country’s parliament will vote on a new president Wednesday, July 20.
Rajapaksa on Wednesday tendered his letter of resignation after a nationwide protest which was triggered by his country’s worst-ever economic crisis.
According to AFP, the Speaker of the Sri Lanka Parliament, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana said that nominations for the post of president will be received on Tuesday and MPs are due to vote the following day.
