The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress in the 2019 and 2023 general elections, Omoyele Sowore, has spoken out about his arrest and subsequent release by the Nigerian Immigration Service upon his arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
Sowore, who was declared wanted by the Department of State Services for his role in the recent #EndBadGovernance protests, stated that his arrest was not unexpected.
Taking to X, he claimed it was part of a broader clampdown on dissent by the fascist Bola Tinubu’s regime and their fear of the upcoming #FearlessINOctober revolt.
After being released and having his passport confiscated, Sowore took to social media to express his thoughts on the situation.
He had previously vowed to return to Nigeria despite being declared wanted by the DSS.
According to him, he had known that it was part of the broader clampdown by the “fascist Bola Tinubu’s regime on dissent and their fear of the upcoming #FearlessINOctober revolt.”
