South-East didn’t push enough for Presidency – Okowa

Ifeanyi Okowa, the running mate to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has stated that the South-East zone was not intentional about its demand for the 2023 presidency.

The Delta State governor revealed this on Thursday on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme monitored by Premium Politics.

According to him, the South-East and the North-East have genuine claims to the presidency as they remained the only two regions who are yet to produce a president.

“The South-East has a right of agitation, same with the North-East because they have not been able to produce a president,” he said

Okowa also explained that the failure of the South-East to intentionally make their demands for the 2023 presidency militated against the chances of the zone.

He added, “If the South-East had been intentional about their claim for the presidency, the narrative would have been different. However, the popular claim was just for a Southern presidency.

“We are in a democratic process and this is not enough to push for something. It may not come at the desired time but as we continue to push, we will definitely get it.”
