The Secretary to Sokoto State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa, has tragically lost his daughter, her three children, and a house help in a devastating early morning fire that engulfed their home on Monday.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Malam Abubakar Bawa, the fire, which occurred around 3:00 am, claimed the lives of Rabi’atu Bello Sifawa, daughter of the Secretary to the State Government, along with her three children—Fatimatu Bello Yusuf, Maryam Bello Yusuf, and Abubakar Sadik Bello Yusuf—and their house help, Aishatu Muhammad.
The funeral prayer for the deceased was held in Sifawa town, Bodinga Local Government Area.
Prominent figures attended the funeral, including the state Deputy Governor, Idris Muhammed Gobir; the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga; the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi; representatives of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko; the State Chief Judge, Justice Saidu Sifawa; the Grand Khadi, Shuaibu Sodangi Achida; the Chief of Staff, Government House, Sokoto, Aminu Haliru Dikko; members of the legislature; Commissioners and Special Advisers; the State Commissioner of Police; the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps; representatives of the military and other security agencies; heads of government parastatals; Permanent Secretaries; local government chairmen; serving and retired civil servants; politicians; and ulamas, among others.
The remains of the five deceased have since been buried according to Islamic injunctions.
