Nigerians on social media have knocked All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, for choosing former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, as his running mate.

Tinubu on Sunday unveiled Shettima, a Muslim as his running, ignoring several calls against a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Reacting to the development, Nigerians on social media called the move unacceptable and irresponsible.

@DrealAdo said, “As a Muslim, it’s divisive and irresponsible to even contemplate a Muslim-Muslim ticket let alone carrying it out. Muslims should resist this as we won’t take anything Christian-Christian ticket now or in future. This is absurd.”

@nigeriasbest said, “The people who are telling you religion doesn’t matter are the same people who said GEJ (Goodluck Ebele Jonathan) was an Ijaw Christian President.”

@jcokechukwu said, “As if Muslim-Muslim ticket isn’t enough insult on millions of Nigerian Christians, Tinubu had to go with a guy who allegedly threatened fire on Igbos and their businesses in Lagos and the North – in a leaked phone call with then Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun. We play too much!”

@Ayibatonye0 said, “If APC wins any state in the South-South, South-East & North Central, then I will gladly say we Christians are foolish.”

@NemisNehemiah said, “So, Christian Northern APC people like Simon Lalong, Babachir Lawal, Yakubu Pam, Yakubu Dogara and others are not APC enough?”
