Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja to represent Nigeria at the 2025 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, taking place in Davos, Switzerland.
This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by Mr Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice-President.
According to Nkwocha, Shettima will join world leaders, top business executives, and representatives of development partners at the global meeting, where discussions will focus on improving the state of the world economy.
He noted that the Vice-President’s itinerary includes bilateral meetings with other leaders, participation in workshops, and attendance at forums scheduled for the gathering.
Nkwocha revealed that Shettima would take part in a workshop titled “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets,” which is being organised by the African Development Bank in collaboration with the World Economic Forum. The event, set to take place at the Congress Centre in Jakobshorn, aims to enhance the flow of capital into Africa’s frontier markets while scaling solutions for a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient continent.
“Top on the agenda will be an announcement of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing Roadmap for Africa, in partnership with the African Development Bank. It will foster partnerships between public and private sector leaders interested in mobilising investment in Africa’s frontier markets, among others,” Nkwocha stated.
Additionally, the Vice-President is expected to attend a dinner for Heads of State, government officials, and leaders of international organisations, further strengthening Nigeria’s global engagement at the event.
