Vice President Kashim Shettima left Abuja on Sunday to represent Nigeria at the 2025 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
According to a statement from his Media Assistant, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President will join global leaders, business executives, and development partners at the event to discuss the state of the world economy and explore ways to improve global economic conditions.
During his visit to Davos, Shettima is expected to participate in various bilateral meetings, workshops, and forums. One of the key events on his schedule is a workshop titled “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets,” organized by the African Development Bank in partnership with the WEF. The workshop aims to boost capital flow into Africa’s frontier markets and promote inclusive, resilient growth across the continent.
A major highlight of Shettima’s participation will be the announcement of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing Roadmap for Africa, a partnership initiative with the African Development Bank. This initiative seeks to foster public and private sector collaborations to mobilize investment in Africa’s frontier markets.
Additionally, Shettima will attend a dinner for heads of state, government, and international organizations, as well as the Annual Meeting 2025 Crystal Awardees, the International Business Council, and Strategic Partners, which will take place at Kurpark Village in Eiger.
The Vice President is also scheduled to co-chair a forum on “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa” at the Pischa Congress Centre. This session will focus on digital trade and the private sector’s role in advancing the implementation of the AfCFTA Digital Trade Protocol, which was adopted by African Union heads of state in January 2024.
Furthermore, Shettima will participate as a panelist in a Stakeholder Dialogue titled “Global Risks 2025,” where global risks such as geopolitical, technological, and environmental challenges will be discussed. This event is set for the Aspen 2 Congress Centre in Davos.
Shettima is accompanied by several top government officials, including Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, and Aisha Rimi, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission. He will return to Abuja following his engagements in Davos.
