Vice President Kashim Shettima departed Abuja on Friday, December 13, for the United Arab Emirates, where he is set to represent President Bola Tinubu at the commissioning and naming ceremony of a $315 million oil production and storage facility in Dubai.
According to a statement by Stanley Nkwocha, the media aide to the vice president, the new facility, which is fully Nigerian-owned, will be commissioned on Saturday, December 14. The facility was acquired by Oriental Energy.
After the event in Dubai, Vice President Shettima will travel to Saudi Arabia, where he is scheduled to perform the Lesser Hajj (Umrah) from December 16 to 19, 2024.
Additionally, Nkwocha revealed that on December 20, Vice President Shettima will hold a bilateral meeting with the President of the Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah.
The discussions will center on co-financing arrangements for the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ Phase II) and the enhancement of IsDB projects in Nigeria, aimed at supporting the nation’s agricultural and economic growth.
Vice President Shettima is expected to return to Nigeria on or before December 21, 2024.
