United States Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has reacted to pop star Taylor Swift’s endorsement of US Vice President Kamala Harris after the recent presidential debate.
Speaking on Fox News, Trump suggested Swift’s decision to support Harris could negatively impact her career, saying:
“I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a question of time. She couldn’t possibly endorse Biden … But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”
Swift, who has a large and devoted fan base, took to Instagram after the debate to express her support for Harris. In her post to her 283 million followers, Swift described a clear choice in the upcoming election, encouraging her fans to register and make informed decisions.
She also addressed a recent deepfake video that falsely portrayed her endorsing Trump: “It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter… The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”
Swift’s endorsement marks another step in her growing political involvement, which she began in 2018.
She concluded her post by urging her fans, especially first-time voters, to register and consider early voting. She signed off her message with: “With love and hope, Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady,”

During his appearance on Fox & Friends, Trump also praised soccer player Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, for liking one of his posts on X (formerly Twitter). Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, plays for the Chiefs as a tight end.
Trump has previously dismissed Swift’s political endorsements, once remarking: “Let’s say I like Taylor’s music about 25 percent less now, OK?”
