The President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has called an emergency session of the upper legislative chamber ahead of the nationwide protest scheduled to take place from August 1st to 10th.
The emergency session is set to hold on Wednesday, July 31st. A memo has been issued to the Senate Clerk regarding the matter, which read:
“Dear Distinguished Senators,
“The President of the Senate, His Excellency, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, has directed that an emergency plenary sitting of the Senate be convened as follows:
“Date: WEDNESDAY, JULY 31st, 2024;
“TIME: 12 NOON;
“Distinguished Senators are requested to make all necessary arrangements to attend as issues of national importance will be discussed.”
The memo emphasizes the importance of attendance, indicating that critical national matters will be addressed during the session.
