Former President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that Nigeria’s security and economy witnessed significant improvements during his eight-year tenure.
Buhari made this assertion on Wednesday while receiving members of the Katsina State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists at his country home in Daura, Katsina State.
Reflecting on his time in office, the former president noted that he inherited a struggling economy and severe security challenges from the Peoples Democratic Party, which governed the country for 16 years.
He maintained that his administration implemented effective strategies to address these issues, reducing terrorism and easing economic hardship.
“Nigeria’s security and economy improved significantly under my administration compared to what we met in 2015. Things will continue to improve in Nigeria,” Buhari stated.
Acknowledging the complexities of governance, the former president remarked that only those who have held positions of power can fully grasp the challenges involved in running a nation.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Yusuf Ibrahim-Jargaba, commended Buhari for his efforts in combating terrorism, banditry, and other security threats during his presidency.
Ibrahim-Jargaba also praised Buhari’s hard work, dedication, and selfless service, which he credited with helping to sustain Nigeria’s unity.
