A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Usman Austin Okai, has urged Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State to be prepared for constructive criticism as he begins his tenure.
Okai made this call in response to the Supreme Court’s judgment affirming Ododo’s governorship election, despite noting that the judgment did not accurately reflect the election’s outcome.
In a statement, Okai emphasized the need for Governor Ododo to unite the state and depart from the divisive practices of the previous administration.
He said, “We urge Governor Ododo to unite the state, prioritize workers’ welfare, and provide essential services to the people.”
Okai also stressed the importance of prioritizing the welfare of Kogi State’s citizens, stating, “He should ensure timely payment of workers’ salaries and pensions, as well as provide essential facilities and services to the people.”
The PDP chieftain called on the governor to “put aside political differences and work towards a united Kogi State, where every citizen can thrive and enjoy the dividends of democracy.”
He also reminded the governor to expect constructive criticism from the opposition, as they are “ready to speak out when necessary to ensure accountability and good governance.”
Okai concluded by saying, “We will offer constructive criticism when necessary to ensure a better future for Kogi State.”
