Political tensions in Rivers State continue to simmer into 2025, with Governor Siminalayi Fubara asserting that his adversaries’ efforts to undermine his leadership will remain unsuccessful.
The ongoing rift between Fubara and his former political ally, Nyesom Wike, who have been in conflict since late 2023 over control of the state’s political structure, shows no signs of resolution.
Fubara addressed the congregation during a church service held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Opobo Town, Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, marking the transition into 2025. During the service, he led a hymn that emphasized faith and divine strength, encouraging the people to trust in God’s guidance for the challenges ahead.
The Governor spoke about the importance of maintaining faith in God, stressing that only divine intervention can lead to greater success in the new year.
Despite the political challenges, he expressed confidence that any attempts to undermine his leadership would continue to fail.
He said: “The Red Biro is still filled. It is still here with me. Every enemy’s plan will continue to crash.”
