Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has addressed the ongoing political crisis in the state, expressing confidence in God’s control over the situation and emphasizing the strength he draws from the support of the people of Rivers State.
Speaking during a Christmas Ballad hosted by former Governor Peter Odili, Governor Fubara expressed his gratitude to the people for their unwavering backing throughout the crisis. He highlighted that his strength is fueled by the encouragement and support he receives from the people, particularly in the face of political challenges.
Despite the ongoing tensions with his predecessor, former Governor Nyesom Wike, Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to continue on the path of righteousness. He stressed that his administration would remain focused on doing what is right for the people of Rivers State.
Governor Fubara also emphasized his faith in God as a source of strength, stating that the ultimate force behind the success of his administration is divine support. He expressed confidence that with God’s guidance, victory is assured for the state.
Looking ahead, Fubara assured the people of Rivers State that 2025 would be a year of progress and development, promising that his administration would work tirelessly to achieve remarkable outcomes. He also took the opportunity to thank former Governor Odili for hosting him and his family.
He said, “And not just because I want to accept it, I get stronger in this course every day when I look at the support I am getting from the true Rivers people.
“So, it is not me being strong. My strength is drawn from every one of you that is here. You gave me the encouragement; you do the work for me; you make the calls for me. So, why won’t I stand up for you?
“But we also believe strongly that the ultimate game changer, the ultimate liberator, and the ultimate fighter still remains God Almighty. And because we have Him on our side, victory is assured.”
Former Governor Odili praised Fubara’s leadership, commending him for confronting political challenges, preventing attempts to control the state, and promoting stability. Odili reflected on the fierce political struggle that began in October 2023 and described the decision to host Fubara as a gesture of appreciation for his leadership and resilience.
Justice Mary Odili, who presented gifts to Governor Fubara and his family, expressed her full support for the governor. She highlighted the divine purpose behind Fubara’s leadership and pledged her family’s continued commitment to the success of his administration.
