The Peoples Redemption Party has called for a public audit and full accountability of the funds allocated to the Taraba State Government.
Idris Tantano, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party in the state, made this demand in a statement issued on Sunday.
Tantano highlighted the ongoing struggles faced by the people of Taraba State, including inadequate infrastructure, poor healthcare, and limited economic opportunities.
He criticized the current administration for failing to effectively use the state’s resources to attract investors or create jobs. Instead, he claimed, the administration has squandered billions on luxury vehicles for the elite.
“The procurement of JAC Jeeps presents a perfect opportunity for the state to negotiate with investors to establish a car assembly plant. This would not only generate revenue but also create thousands of jobs for the youth,” Tantano said.
He further pointed out that the current leadership’s lack of foresight and alleged corruption had resulted in a missed opportunity for economic growth and job creation.
“As the opposition, we demand that the administration provides a detailed account of how the state’s funds have been utilized,” the statement added.
The Taraba State PRP reiterated its commitment to holding the government accountable, emphasizing that it would not stand by while the ruling party continues to prioritize its own interests over the welfare of the people.
The party stated that it was time for a change, promising to usher in a new era of transparency, accountability, and prosperity in the state. It also vowed to use all legal means available to ensure that the government operates with greater transparency and accountability, asserting that the people of Taraba State deserve better.
