The Peoples Democratic Party has expressed confidence that its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, will win the upcoming governorship election in Edo State with at least 65% of the total votes.
At a press conference in Abuja, PDP spokesman Debo Ologunagba stated that Ighodalo’s “Prosperity for All Agenda” has resonated across political parties and the electorate, making him the clear favorite to win.
Ologunagba alleged that the All Progressives Congress and its candidate, Monday Okpebholo, are struggling to cope with Ighodalo’s massive support, according to Peoples Gazette.
However, he raised concerns about alleged plans to disrupt the electoral process, including attempts to manipulate the INEC bio-data process and instill fear in voters.
The PDP spokesman also called for an investigation into reports of secret cells training and arming thugs for the election.
Despite these concerns, Ologunagba expressed confidence that the people of Edo State will not be swayed and will elect Ighodalo as their next governor.
“From all credible indices across the 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State, the PDP candidate, Ighodalo, is coasting to a sweeping victory with not less than 65 per cent of the total votes expected at the election.
“One of such antics was the attempt to manipulate the INEC bio-data process by fraudulently uploading emojis, pictures of foreigners, social media pictures and non-human photos as polling and collation agents.
“This is with the intent to smuggle in hired thugs to masquerade as polling agents and trigger crisis on election day,” Mr Ologunagba said.
