The Peoples Democratic Party in Oguduokwor Ward, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has expelled the party’s National Vice Chairman for the South-East, Mr. Ali Odefa, due to alleged anti-party activities.
Odefa had been suspended by the ward executives on September 11, 2024, and the Federal High Court in Abakaliki upheld the suspension on November 29, 2024.
On Wednesday, during a press conference in Onicha LGA, Mr. Onyeka Ovuta, a party executive in the ward, announced Odefa’s expulsion. The decision followed the recommendation of the party’s disciplinary committee, which confirmed the allegations of anti-party activities.
Ovuta explained that the expulsion was based on the findings and recommendations of the ward’s disciplinary committee, in line with the PDP constitution. He added that the Executive Committee of PDP Oguduokwor Ward approved the expulsion on December 11, 2024.
The expulsion means that Odefa no longer holds membership in the PDP, as outlined in sections 58(1) and 59(1) of the party constitution.
