The Nigerian Senate has announced that the passage of the N49.7 trillion budget for the 2025 fiscal year may not be possible before January 31.
This was revealed by Senator Yemi Adaramodu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, during an interaction with journalists in Abuja.
According to Adaramodu, the budget defense by ministries, departments, and agencies of the federal government is scheduled to begin on January 7.
He added that the joint committees of both the House of Representatives and the Senate on Appropriations are expected to present the final report of the budget on January 31.
The appropriation bill, which President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presented to a joint session of the National Assembly on December 18, has already passed the second reading in both chambers of the National Assembly.
