A bill reverting the name of the Osun State, from” State of Osun” to” Osun State,” has been passed by the state House of Assembly.
The bill titled “Osun Anthem, Crest Flag Amendment Bill 2023,” passed the third reading at the plenary session of the House on Monday.
It would be recalled that the name of the State which was originally “Osun State,” was change to “State of Osun,” by a former governor of the state, Rauf Aregbesola, in 2012.
According to the Speaker of the State Assembly, Hon Adewale Egbedun, the bill would be forwarded to the governor for assent.
Egbedun explained that after it is assented to by the governor, the new bill would replace the Osun Anthem, Crest and Flag Bill 2012.
He explained that aside from reverting the name of the state, the bill will also change the flag and crest of the state to the Nigerian flag and the Nigerian Coat of Arms.
However, the State Anthem established by the old bill would still be sustained by the new bill.
