In a significant development, members of the All Progressives Congress have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party in support of the party’s governorship candidate, Agboola Ajayi.
The defectors, comprising party leaders and loyalists from Auga, Ikakumo, and Akoko areas of Ondo State, cited their desire to support a leader who truly cares about the welfare of the people as the reason for their defection.
The PDP, in a video shared on X on Tuesday night, described the development as a “significant boost to the gubernatorial ambition of H.E. Agboola Ajayi, @A_AgboolaAjayi.”
“A large number of the failed All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Auga and Ikakumo, Akoko, Ondo State, have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” the party stated.
The defectors expressed confidence in Agboola Ajayi’s ability to transform the state and improve the lives of its citizens.
“They expressed confidence in our Governorship Candidate in Ondo State, H.E. Agboola Ajayi’s ability to transform the State and improve the lives of its citizens,” the PDP said.
The party further stated that the mass defection is a clear indication of the growing popularity of Agboola Ajayi and the PDP in Ondo State.
It said, “This mass defection is a clear indication of the growing popularity of H.E. Agboola Ajayi and the PDP in Ondo State. It demonstrates the people’s rejection of the APC’s failed policies and their desire for a better future.”
