Former Deputy President of the Senate and governorship candidate for Delta State under the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a more inclusive leadership within the party.
He assured party leaders and members in Delta State that the APC would embrace a more participatory approach to decision-making, ensuring that every stakeholder has a voice.
Speaking at an interactive stakeholders’ meeting in Patani, Senator Omo-Agege, who also leads the Delta APC, explained that the renewed focus on inclusivity is aimed at leveraging diverse perspectives, accommodating all interests, and empowering stakeholders to play an active role in shaping the future direction of the party.
“I do not claim to have a monopoly on good ideas. It is through conversations like these that we can develop better solutions to move our party and state forward,” Omo-Agege stated during the meeting, which was attended by party members, stakeholders, and leaders from across the state.
The gathering was part of Omo-Agege’s statewide thank-you tour, designed to assess the party’s performance in the recent elections, identify mistakes, and make corrections ahead of the 2027 elections. Reflecting on past challenges, Omo-Agege acknowledged the party’s missteps but emphasized the importance of engaging in open dialogue.
“We have made mistakes, but what matters is that we are engaging in stakeholder discussions. This is an opportunity for us to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and refine our strategies. We must work together to build a stronger, more united party that truly represents the interests of all Deltans,” he remarked.
In his speech, Omo-Agege also expressed his gratitude to APC members and voters in Patani for their unwavering support, despite facing opposition and intimidation. He recognized the hardships endured by some members, including physical attacks and harassment, and commended their dedication and perseverance.
“I sincerely thank you all for standing by me and our party. Your support is truly remarkable, and I am proud that you voted not just for me, but for our President, Senator, and House of Assembly candidate. Your unwavering commitment means the world to me,” he added.
The Delta APC governorship candidate further assured party members that addressing their concerns would serve as the foundation for a decisive victory in all elections in 2027.
Omo-Agege also underscored the importance of women in politics, assuring APC women that the party would support and recognize them as vital stakeholders.
“Women are the backbone of our party and our communities. They play a crucial role in elections, and we must ensure they receive the support and recognition they deserve. I assure you that the concerns raised by our women leaders will be addressed, and we will work tirelessly to promote gender inclusivity and empowerment within our party,” he pledged.
In his call for unity, Omo-Agege emphasized the need for party members to work toward resolving internal conflicts at the unit and ward levels, stressing that the Delta APC would emerge stronger and more resilient.
“Political conflicts and internal crises are inevitable, but we must work through these challenges to strengthen our party. We must build bridges, foster dialogue, and promote understanding among our members. By doing so, we will create a more united, cohesive, and formidable party that can secure victory in future elections,” Omo-Agege said.
Finally, the governorship candidate assured party loyalists that their hard work and sacrifices would not go unnoticed, promising recognition and rewards for those who had stood by the party.
“We will ensure that those who have worked tirelessly for our party are recognised and rewarded. We appreciate your dedication, perseverance, and commitment to our shared vision. We will continue to stand by you as we move forward together towards a brighter future for Delta State and our great party,” Omo-Agege concluded.
