Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has assured that governors across Nigeria are fully committed to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s initiatives aimed at reducing food prices and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
Okpebholo made this statement after participating in a New Year visit to President Tinubu at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos, alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima, other state governors, and the leadership of the National Assembly.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Okpebholo reflected on the challenges of the past year and reassured Nigerians that state governors were dedicated to tackling the country’s issues and promoting development in the coming year.
He acknowledged the current food crisis and stressed that governors were collaborating closely with President Tinubu to address food security. Okpebholo expressed confidence that the surge in food prices would soon be alleviated, as various agricultural programs to reduce food costs were already being implemented across states.
He also highlighted the President’s deep understanding of the challenges facing Nigerians and his commitment to addressing those concerns through focused governance. Okpebholo emphasized that President Tinubu’s plans for the year ahead were both inspiring and grounded in the reality of the ordinary Nigerian’s experience.
“I have just had a meeting with the President of the Federal Republic, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Vice President, HE Kashim Shettima, the leadership of the National Assembly and other fellow Governors. Topmost on our discussions were the challenges before us and how to tackle them.
“President Tinubu is passionate about the welfare of Nigerians and the development of our dear country. Hearing him articulate his plans and mission for the new year and charging us to be committed to governance was refreshing.
“It is clear that he understands the current challenges facing our people and is in touch with them and feels what the ordinary Nigerian feels,” Okpebholo said.
