The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission has begun the distribution of non-sensitive materials to the 18 Local Government Areas in preparation for the local government elections scheduled for January 18, 2025.
The Chairman of ODIEC, Dr. Joseph Aremo, announced this development in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday in Akure. The statement was signed by the Press Officer of ODIEC, Mrs. Bisi Lawan.
Aremo revealed that the distributed non-sensitive materials include ballot boxes and other essential items. He further stated that ad-hoc staff for the election day had already been recruited and trained.
“The non-sensitive election materials required for the elections have been distributed to the 18 local government ODIEC offices,” Aremo said. “The electoral body is working closely with relevant security agencies to ensure the safety and security of the election materials.”
He also assured the public of the commission’s commitment to ensuring a free, fair, credible, transparent, peaceful, and inclusive election process in the state.
Aremo encouraged the electorate to come out in large numbers on election day to cast their votes and participate in the democratic process.
He also called on all political parties, candidates, and their supporters to avoid any form of violence and to respect the rules of engagement throughout the election period.
