The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, assuring that a better nation is within reach.
Obi made the statement in a post on X, revealing his activities during a recent trip to the United Kingdom.
On Sunday, Obi traveled to Cambridge for scheduled meetings with development experts. He shared that the discussions focused on finding solutions to the challenges facing Nigeria.
Additionally, Obi traveled back to London to attend the launch of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s new novel, Dream Count, at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall. He highlighted the engaging conversation between Adichie and journalist Elizabeth Day, which captivated the over 3,000 people in attendance.
Reflecting on the event, Obi wrote, “The event was not only a celebration of literary excellence but, more importantly, a testament to the immense potential our beloved nation holds if we invest in the most critical measures of development reflected in the Human Development Index (HDI): education, healthcare, and lifting people out of poverty.”
Obi further emphasized that, along with his earlier discussions on improving the nation, he was encouraged by the performance and insights schared during the event. He added, “Coupled with my earlier discussions on turning around our struggling nation and the exhilarating performance by @ChimamandaReal, I am convinced that with the energy and brilliance of our youth, a collective commitment, and guidance through good governance, the dream of a better Nigeria is within reach. I remain confident that all hope is not lost.”
