The Nigerian government has officially submitted the necessary documentation to Finland for the extradition of Biafra agitator Simon Ekpa.
This was confirmed by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, in a statement on Tuesday on Channels Television.
Musa expressed confidence that the right steps would be taken, as the Nigerian government had provided most of the required documentation to Finnish authorities.
He noted that Ekpa had been arrested and that legal action would follow accordingly.
Simon Ekpa, along with four others, was arrested by Finnish authorities in November 2024 on charges of involvement in terror-related activities, including incitement to violence and financing terrorism.
The Lahti District Court in Finland ordered Ekpa’s remand, citing probable cause for public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent in Nigeria. Ekpa is accused of using social media to promote separatist propaganda and advocate violently for the secession of southeastern Nigeria.
Musa said: “Well, I’m sure he’s cooling off somewhere.
“Legal action will be taken accordingly. I don’t want to say too much, but I’m glad he’s been arrested.
“The Federal Government has provided most of the required documentation to the Finnish Government, so I’m confident the right steps will be taken.”
