Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatunbosun Oluyede, on Wednesday night, disclosed that President Bola Tinubu had made every effort to save the life of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.
In a conversation with select reporters, General Oluyede shared the profound sadness that Lagbaja’s passing has brought to the Nigerian Army.
“His death is highly regrettable,” Oluyede stated. “Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the country did everything possible to keep him with us. He was someone who gave his all to Nigeria.”
Remembering Lagbaja as a “selfless leader” with “passionate dedication to Nigeria,” Oluyede remarked, “He led the Nigerian Army with courage, thoroughness, and professionalism. His loss is a profound one for us, and we pray that the good Lord will grant him rest.”
The Acting Chief of Army Staff encouraged Nigerians to honor Lagbaja’s legacy of selflessness and dedication. “I want Nigerians to truly celebrate him for the good work he did,” Oluyede said, emphasizing the late General’s contributions to the nation.
Lagbaja, aged 56, passed away following an undisclosed illness while undergoing medical treatment. According to reports from the federal government, he died in Lagos after his return to Nigeria.
