The Nigerian government has condemned the attack on a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, which left five people dead on Friday, December 20.
At least 200 people were injured when a man drove into the market, which was crowded with holiday shoppers.
Acting spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, expressed Nigeria’s condolences to the people of Germany and sympathized with the victims and the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident.
The Nigerian government condemned the attack as highly reprehensible and extended its thoughts to the German government and all those affected by the incident.
He said, “The Federal Republic of Nigeria wishes to express her sincere condolences to the Government and the People of the Federal Republic of Germany following a car attack on a crowded Christmas market on Friday 20th December, 2024 in Magdeburg, Germany.
“The unfortunate incident, which led to the death of five persons and over two hundred injured, is highly condemnable.
“Our thoughts are with the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and the families of all those impacted by the dreadful action.”
