Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, is set to convene a stakeholders’ summit on August 31, 2024, to discuss the creation of Anioma State.
According to a statement from his office, the summit, themed “Renewed Quest for the Creation of Anioma State,” will take place at Grand Hotel Asaba, starting at 10 am.
The statement listed attendees as traditional rulers, presidents-general of communities in the nine local government areas of Delta North, youth groups, women’s bodies, and professional organizations, among others.
The summit aims to deliberate on the historical evolution of the agitation for Anioma state creation, spanning over 50 years, as well as the political and economic potentials of Anioma.
Notably, Senator Ned Nwoko has already initiated a bill for the creation of Anioma State, which has passed its first reading on the Senate floor. The summit is expected to chart a common course for the actualization of Anioma State.
