The lawmaker representing Borno South, Senator Ali Ndume, expressed optimism on Tuesday that the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East would be reduced with the provision of additional attack helicopters.
In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ndume emphasized the Nigerian Army’s capacity to defeat the terrorists but pointed out the need for more financial support for the military.
The senator also highlighted issues such as insufficient equipment and low morale among troops as significant challenges in the fight against terrorism.
He further revealed that the average soldier in the operational theatre receives a daily allowance of N1,500, underscoring the financial constraints faced by the military.
