A member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mohammed Isimbabi, has defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party to the All Progressives Congress.
Isimbabi, representing Toto/Gadabuke Constituency, cited internal divisions within the NNPP as the reason for his defection.
House Speaker Danladi Jatau announced Isimbabi’s defection during Monday’s plenary session, commending the lawmaker for his “bold step” in joining the ruling APC in the state, according to Politics Nigeria.
Jatau described the defection as a “welcome development” that would add value to the APC.
Isimbabi’s move comes amidst growing divisions within the NNPP, with several members expressing concerns over the party’s internal dynamics.
Commending the lawmaker for “his bold step in joining the ruling APC in the state”, Jatau said Isimbabi’s defection is a welcome development.
His words, “I want to commend him for taking this very serious decision to join APC. His defection to APC is welcome as a leader of the house.”
Jatau also noted that Isimbabi’s defection would add value to the party.
