Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has dissolved his cabinet, including the Secretary to the State Government and all commissioners, marking another significant reshuffle in his administration.
The announcement, made on Friday, was confirmed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Addara, who described it as a routine part of governance in the state.
“The dissolution of the cabinet is a normal practice in Nasarawa State, aimed at giving the governor an opportunity to restructure and make adjustments,” Addara stated in a release.
The decision comes on the heels of a controversial move earlier in the week, where Governor Sule suspended the chairman and board members of the Nasarawa State Teachers Service Commission. This action was tied to allegations of unauthorized recruitment of over 1,000 teachers, which had sparked concerns about irregularities within the commission.
While no specific reasons were provided for the cabinet shake-up, Addara highlighted that it aligns with the political culture of the state. He further clarified that the dissolution did not affect other appointees beyond the commissioners and SSG.
Governor Sule, known for his strategic approach to governance, had previously dissolved his cabinet in August 2021. This latest move underscores his tendency to periodically reorganize his administration to tackle emerging challenges.
“This is a strategic move to reorganize the administration and address pressing issues affecting the state,” Addara explained, adding that the decision could bring fresh perspectives to the governance structure.
