The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed the 2025 Appropriation Bill, raising the budget from the N382.57 billion initially proposed by Governor Abdullahi Sule to N402.57 billion.
Speaker of the House, Danladi Jatau, announced the passage during a plenary session on Friday in Lafia. He explained that the additional N20 billion was approved to address economic complexities and inflationary pressures affecting key budgetary items.
Jatau stated that the increased budget would empower the state government to implement projects aimed at improving the lives of citizens and fostering the overall development of Nasarawa State once signed into law by the governor.
He said, “A Bill for a Law to Issue Out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the State (Appropriation) of the Sum of N402,567,843,592.03 is read for the third time and passed.”
The revised budget allocates N166,384,435,542.25 for recurrent expenditure and N236,183,408,049.78 for capital expenditure.
Governor Sule originally presented the N382.57 billion budget, christened the “Budget of Economic Growth and Stability,” to the House on November 29, 2024.
The House’s decision to increase the budget reflects its commitment to addressing critical economic and infrastructural needs while ensuring the budget aligns with the current realities in the state.
