In a heated briefing at the National Assembly, Hon. Solomon Bob, the lawmaker representing Ahoada-East/Abua/Odual Federal Constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party, sharply criticized Hon. Ugo-Chinyere for what he described as reckless and unscrupulous behavior.
Bob accused Ugo-Chinyere of undermining the integrity of the House of Representatives and causing harm to the reputation of Rivers State.
Bob expressed frustration over what he perceived as unprofessional conduct and called for disciplinary action. He alleged that Ugo-Chinyere was overstepping his boundaries by interfering in issues related to Rivers State, despite not being a representative of the state. Bob argued that someone with no ties to the people of Rivers had no right to speak on their behalf, labeling such actions as a breach of parliamentary decorum, according to Independent.
The lawmaker further accused Ugo-Chinyere of being a “hired mercenary,” working on behalf of external forces seeking to exploit the resources of Rivers State. He emphasized that Ugo-Chinyere had no mandate to represent the interests of the people of Rivers.
Bob also raised concerns about Ugo-Chinyere’s appointment as chairman of a key committee, questioning how a new member with only three months of parliamentary experience could be entrusted with such a position. He suggested that the appointment process may have been influenced by manipulation and criticized the use of blackmail and racketeering to secure the role.
Turning to the political situation in Rivers, Bob condemned Ugo-Chinyere’s focus on trivial matters instead of addressing critical issues facing the state. He highlighted the challenges in Rivers, including disrupted education and economic paralysis, accusing Ugo-Chinyere of distracting attention from the real problems affecting the people.
In his closing remarks, Bob reaffirmed his commitment to serving his constituency and tackling the issues facing Rivers State. He expressed frustration with the lack of response from the House leadership to the concerns he had raised, underscoring his dedication to representing his people.
“Hon. Ugo Chinyere’s behavior warrants serious disciplinary measures from this House. Instead, he is being enabled. This sets a terrible precedent,” Bob declared, visibly agitated.
He continued, ” How can someone who doesn’t hail from Rivers State, has no ties to our people, and doesn’t live there claim to speak on our behalf? His actions are not only a breach of parliamentary decorum but also an insult to Rivers people.”
