The Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi State has assured a successful and fair state congress, scheduled for today, Saturday.
Chairman of the Kogi State PDP Congress Committee, Usman Okai Austin, confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth process, according to Daily Post.
Okai expressed confidence in the formation of a new state working committee, which will strengthen party activities and solidify its position as a strong opposition force ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing rumours of potential legal challenges, Okai clarified that there are no court summons or orders against the congress, dismissing such claims as mere political gossip.
The committee highlighted the successful completion of the three-man ad-hoc delegates’ process and the establishment of an appeals committee, which has received approval from the PDP’s National Working Committee in Abuja.
The party urged all delegates and members to adhere to established rules and regulations, assuring comprehensive security measures are in place to protect delegates traveling from all 21 local government areas.
The PDP dismissed speculation about the possibility of another congress, calling such ideas wishful thinking, and expressed commitment to representing the interests of the people after the convention.
“The process has received approval from the PDP’s National Working Committee in Abuja, which has addressed any concerns arising from the ad-hoc congress.
“As the congress approaches, the PDP wishes all delegates and members a safe journey and reiterates its commitment to representing the interests of the people after the convention,” Okai said.
The party also dismissed any speculation about the possibility of another congress, calling such ideas wishful thinking.
“The Kogi PDP is poised to emerge from this congress with renewed energy and a clear mandate to serve the people,” the statement added.
