Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has officially signed the 2025 budget into law following its approval by the State House of Assembly.
The budget, totaling N580.32 billion, was passed with slight adjustments to both capital and recurrent expenditures, as presented by the executive.
During the signing ceremony at the Government House Chamber in Birnin Kebbi, the governor emphasized his commitment to transparency and accountability in the budget’s implementation.
He stated that the government would ensure the budget’s benefits reach all sectors, with a special focus on rural areas to make sure the impacts are felt by residents across the state.
The governor also outlined his administration’s focus on achieving set goals to improve the lives of the people of Kebbi State. He expressed his gratitude to the legislature for their support in making the current achievements possible, noting the strong collaboration between the executive and legislative arms.
“As a professional teacher, I believe in dialogue and consultations, there’s good understanding, love and respect between us,” the governor said.
Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sama’ila Muhammad Bagudo, who led the session, presented the appropriation law to the governor for assent. He reaffirmed the Assembly’s continued support for efforts that aim to enhance Kebbi State’s standing in Nigeria, highlighting the swift passage of the budget as a key achievement.
He said, “We promised to hasten the passage of the bill which we have done. The Assembly will continue to support all efforts towards ensuring that Kebbi State retains its rightful place in Nigeria.”
